Birka-White Law Offices recently settled a class action lawsuit against State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company for $15 million. The case is known as Garner v. State Farm Mutual Insurance Company,
U.S. District Court, Northern District of California, Case No. 4:08-cv-01365. The lawsuit was brought on behalf of California State Farm policyholders who totaled their vehicle from March 2007 to February 2008. State Farm allegedly determined the value of totaled vehicles contrary to the regulations set forth by the California Department of Insurance.
The State Farm lawsuit received Final Approval on April 15, 2010. Class members were contacted via direct mail notice. Over 20,000 State Farm insureds in California received a settlement award.
